Panniken / Encinitas Train Depot (510 North Coast Hwy 101)

 

Originally across the street from the Derby house. Fred F. Perris drew plans for the Encinitas station and an identical one in Carlsbad. The colors of the original station were referred to as Catsup, Mustard, and Pickle Relish,

In 1975 the station was slated to be demolished. Jim Bowen of Cardiff rescured the ill fated railroad station moved it to Leucadia and restored it with architect John Henderson's help.

The Panniken / Encinitas Train Depot is one of the most important rail and historical structures in all of San Diego County.

Stop in, sip the coffee, enjoy the eucalyptus tree lined Hwy 101 and if you're a rail-fan catch a glimpse of the activity on America's second busiest rail corridor.
